WASHINGTON (AP) - A suspect has been arrested in the slaying of a 72-year-old woman found inside her Wheaton home.

Montgomery County police say in a statement that 23-year-old Kwasi Sadler of Washington was arrested Tuesday and charged with first-degree murder in the death of Linda Cheryl Johnston.

Johnston was found dead on Aug. 3 after neighbors failed to see her and contacted police. The cause of Johnston’s death isn’t clear.

Police say there was “evidence of trauma” to Johnston’s body. The medical examiner’s office in Baltimore has ruled the manner of death to be a homicide.

Police have not specified any connection between the suspect and the victim.

It’s unclear whether Sadler has an attorney.
