Police: Woman fatally shot at Phenix City apartment

PHENIX CITY, Ala. (AP) - Authorities say a woman was found shot to death inside an apartment complex in Phenix City.

The Ledger-Enquirer (https://bit.ly/2b4ekSW ) reports that police found the woman at the Gardens Apartments on Tuesday after responding to reports of gunshots.

Russell County Coroner Arthur Sumbry Jr. says the woman died of multiple gunshot wounds. Her identity hasn’t been released.

The woman’s body will be sent to the Department of Forensic Sciences in Montgomery for an autopsy.

Police Capt. George Staudinger says the death is being investigated as a homicide.

The investigation is ongoing.
