OVIEDO, Fla. (AP) - Authorities say a homeowner shot a man who was trying to break into his home.

The Seminole County Sheriff’s Office tells news outlets that the homeowner confronted the suspect Saturday night after he heard someone attempting to open the door of his house near Oviedo and then saw him trying to break into his vehicle.

Lt. Dwayne Kvalheim says the homeowner fired his gun after the suspect ran across the street. The suspect was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

No charges have been filed against the suspect or the homeowner and neither was identified by authorities.
