OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - The average price of gasoline in Oklahoma is rising and has surpassed $2 per gallon.

AAA Oklahoma reports the statewide average on Monday is $2.06 per gallon, up 7 cents from $1.99 per gallon a week ago and 14 cents per gallon more than on Aug. 1.

Prices in selected cities range from $1.99 in Lawton to $2.17 in Stillwater. Motorists in Tulsa are paying $2.06 per gallon while those in Oklahoma City are paying $2.07.

AAA spokesman Chuck Mai says there are several reasons for the recent increase, including high demand, falling inventories and rising prices for crude oil. Mai said unplanned maintenance on refineries in the Gulf Coast also supports higher prices. The maintenance is due to flooding in Louisiana and a refinery fire in Texas.
