COCOA, Fla. (AP) - Authorities say a 23-month-old girl managed to stay afloat in an air pocket until rescue crews found her under a boat that overturned on the Indian River in central Florida.

The Cocoa Police Department said in a news release authorities received multiple 911 calls Friday night following a boat crash. Four officers jumped in the water and started searching for victims.

A civilian in a nearby boat also helped search the water for victims.

Police say rescuers quickly found two adults and an infant. Officer Matt Rush and Cpl. Alan Worthy searched for nearly an hour until they found the little girl trapped beneath the boat. She was wearing a life jacket.

The child was treated by paramedics, who took her to the hospital.

She was listed in good condition.
