JERSEY CITY, N.J. (AP) - A man wanted in a Jersey City church hall shooting that left a teenage boy dead and two teen girls wounded has turned himself in to authorities.
Hudson County prosecutors say 18-year-old Daequan Jackson surrendered to county homicide detectives around 9 p.m. Monday. He remained jailed Tuesday and it wasn’t known if he has retained an attorney.
Authorities had issued an arrest warrant for Jackson on Thursday, charging him with murder, two counts of aggravated assault and weapons offenses.
The counts stem from an Aug. 9 shooting that killed 17-year-old city resident Leander Williams.
The two injured girls, ages 12 and 16, both suffered upper body wounds. Both were treated at hospitals and have since been released.
