LAS VEGAS (AP) - Four Nevada airports are set to receive more than $5 million in federal grants for studies and projects aimed at improving their airfields.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports (https://bit.ly/2bnnJDR ) Democratic Sen. Harry Reid announced the grants Wednesday for McCarran International, North Las Vegas, Boulder City and Battle Mountain airports.
The federal Department of Transportation awarded $1.5 million to McCarran for a study that will examine runway and taxiway configurations.
A $1.6 million grant will help Boulder City Municipal Airport complete a drainage improvement project.
Battle Mountain Airport is getting $900,000 to rehabilitate its runways, and North Las Vegas Airport has been awarded $1.4 million for a study on its runway and taxiway configuration.
Reid says the funds will help Nevada meet the demands of its continued growth.
