GREENVILLE, Maine (AP) - A 14-year-old northern Virginia boy hiking the Appalachian Trail toward Mount Katahdin is recovering after Maine game wardens and an Army National Guard Blackhawk helicopter came to his aid when he suffered a possible broken leg.

The teen, from McLean, Virginia, was with 12 others hiking a rugged section known as the 100-mile Wilderness. They were at a lean-to on Barren Mountain, southeast of Greenville.

Game wardens hiked 4.5 miles and coordinated with the helicopter to fly him to a hospital.
