NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (AP) - A man is dead after a shooting at a motel in Newport News.
Newport News police say in a statement that the shooting happened around 10:40 p.m. Thursday at a Motel 6. Police say when they arrived they found a 24-year-old Newport News man lying on the ground suffering from what appeared to be multiple gunshot wounds. Police say he died at a hospital.
Police say their investigation has revealed that the victim was seated in a car when a light color SUV pulled into the parking lot and parked next to him. Police say they do not know exactly what happened next but that several people were outside the SUV at some point before it drove off.
Police say they’ll release the victim’s name once his family is notified.
