LAUREL, Miss. (AP) - Authorities say a jail inmate who walked away from a work detail is back in the custody of a Mississippi sheriff’s department.

The Jones County Sheriff’s Department said in a news release Wednesday that 46-year-old William Fred Marshall, of Laurel, was taken into custody without incident in a wooded area.

Marshall is accused of walking off a work detail at Merchants Park in Ellisville on Tuesday afternoon.

The sheriff’s department identified Marshall’s brother - 43-year-old James Henry Marshall - and 41-year-old Stephanie Redden, of Hattiesburg, as “possible accomplices” in his escape. Both are facing charges of aiding in the escape of a felon.

William Marshall, an inmate at Jones County Adult Detention Center, was originally arrested on a drug charge by the Laurel Police Department.
