MONROE, Mich. (AP) - Authorities say a Detroit-area mother and son have been accused of trying to hire another man to kill three people.
The Monroe News and The Detroit News report Wednesday that 43-year-old Lakeisha Goodwin of Romulus and 26-year-old Jontele Goodwin of South Rockwood have been charged with solicitation to commit murder and witness intimidation.
The Goodwins were arraigned Tuesday in Monroe District Court and face a Sept. 14 hearing. It wasn’t immediately clear if they have attorneys.
Michigan State Police say an informant contacted investigators alleging Jontele Goodwin offered money to the man - a fellow jail inmate - to kill people involved in his arrest in a drug case.
Police accuse Lakeisha Goodwin of participating in the plot. Lt. Tony Cuevas tells WWJ that evidence includes recordings of phone calls.
