COVENTRY, R.I. (AP) - A Rhode Island woman is facing charges after police say she drove her car off the road while playing “Pokemon Go.”

The Coventry Police Department said on Facebook they were alerted to the car Wednesday morning.

The driver, 24-year-old Cassandra Tierney, told police she was looking for a Pokemon when it happened. She was uninjured.

Police say Tierney was driving “in excess of the posted speed limit while attempting to catch a Pokemon.”

The Providence Journal reports the Cranston resident is charged with texting while operating a motor vehicle, failure to maintain reasonable and prudent speed and related offenses. Public records didn’t list a number for Tierney.

In July, the department posted safety tips for people who play the smartphone game. The first tip: “Do not Pokemon Go and drive.”
