ROCHFORD, S.D. (AP) - Law enforcement authorities in South Dakota say a 49-year-old motorcyclist is dead following a crash Wednesday night near Rochford.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol says the man was riding his motorcycle around 7:15 p.m. Wednesday when he failed to negotiate a left turn and hit a guard rail about two miles east of Rochford. The man, who has not been identified, was thrown from the motorcycle and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Highway Patrol says the man was not wearing a helmet.
Authorities say the crash remains under investigation.
