CASA GRANDE, Ariz. (AP) - A man accused of driving a vehicle into a ditch in Casa Grande last summer and causing the death of a woman has accepted a plea agreement on manslaughter and other charges.
Casa Grande police say 24-year-old Mauricio Moraga is scheduled to be sentenced on Aug. 16 and will get a 19-year prison term.
They say Moraga’s plea agreement also included aggravated assault and a charge of leaving the scene of a fatal accident.
Investigators say Moraga was driving a pickup truck at a high speed when it crashed Aug. 31.
They say 20-year-old Kimberly Armenta was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.
Her 15-year-old nephew survived the crash and walked miles to the police station to report the accident.
Moraga was arrested the following day.
