BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say a western New York man seeking to become a jail guard has been charged with encouraging students on a school bus to watch a video showing a cartoon film character performing sex acts.

The Erie County Sheriff’s Office says 34-year-old David Dole of Buffalo applied to be a guard in the county jail. During a background check, deputies learned Dole was wanted by police in nearby Hamburg for trying to get students on a bus he was driving to watch a YouTube video with “a popular animated movie character performing sexually explicit acts.”

Dole was arrested and turned over to Hamburg police. It wasn’t clear Thursday if he has a lawyer who could comment on his behalf.

Police aren’t saying which character was depicted in the video.
