CANTON, Okla. (AP) - The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation says human remains discovered in Blaine County have been identified as a 23-year-old murder suspect.

The OSBI said Thursday that the state medical examiner’s office identified the skeletal remains as those of Christopher Blake Scruggs, a suspect in a fatal shooting near Canton last year.

The remains were discovered near Canton on June 13. A farmer spraying his field found a human skull and called the sheriff’s office. Sheriff’s deputies and OSBI agents searched the area and discovered more remains.

A warrant had been issued for Scruggs in the death of 18-year-old Caylee Massey.

The OSBI says Massey was riding in a truck on Oct. 27 when she was shot in the head. The driver pulled over and Scruggs, a passenger, fled.
