PETERSBURG, Va. (AP) - Police are investigating after they say multiple people were involved in a shootout at a Petersburg apartment complex.

Captain Brian Braswell with the Petersburg Police tells local media that around 1 p.m. Tuesday, dispatchers received calls reporting shots fired in the middle of Lieutenant’s Run apartments.

Police arrived and found three cars that had been riddled with bullets. No people were injured by the gunfire, and no apartment buildings sustained damage.

Braswell says detectives found 20 to 25 shell casings around the scene.

Witnesses told police that they saw two men approach two other men and begin firing.

Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
