WACO, Texas (AP) - Waco police say a security guard at a bingo hall fatally shot a masked man who was trying to get his handgun.

Police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton tells the Waco Tribune-Herald (https://bit.ly/2akBjfT ) that the incident in Buckeye Bingo parking lot happened Wednesday afternoon.

Swanton says the masked man has been identified as 35-year-old Juan Marcus Howard of Waco. Swanton says that as a struggle ensued over the security guard’s weapon, the guard shot Howard, who later died at the scene.

Swanton says the security guard, who works for a security company, was shot in the hand during the altercation. Swanton says it isn’t known who was in control of the weapon when the security guard was shot in the hand.
