Clerk’s race in small Michigan town will get a recount

OAKLEY, Mich. (AP) - Here’s a Michigan recount that’s unlikely to reach a federal court: a second look at ballots in a small-town race for clerk.

The incumbent, Cheryl Bolf, lost, 71-69, in Oakley, a village in Saginaw County.

The Argus-Press says Bolf had been criticized for resisting efforts to release information about a controversial police reserve unit. She was defeated by Gretchen Schulte.

County Clerk Susan Kaltenbach says the recount will be conducted Monday. It was delayed because of the Michigan presidential recount, which ended Wednesday with decisions by a federal judge and the state elections board.
