President-elect Donald Trump met with rapper Kanye West at Trump Tower on Tuesday.

“Just friends. Just friends,” Mr. Trump said as the two men emerged from an elevator, calling Mr. West a “good man.” “We’ve been friends for a long time.”

Mr. West said on Twitter Tuesday afternoon that he wanted to meet with Mr. Trump to discuss “multicultural issues” like “bullying, supporting teachers, modernizing curriculums, and violence in Chicago.”

“I feel it is important to have a direct line of communication with our future President if we truly want change,” he tweeted.

In response to questions earlier, Mr. West had said he just wanted to take a picture. The world-famous performing artist has said he would have voted for Mr. Trump this year, if he had voted.

Mr. West said at the MTV Video Music Awards last year that he’s decided to run for president in 2020.

“#2024,” he tweeted Tuesday.
