OGDEN, Utah (AP) - A Utah man has been sentenced to prison for the first murder in Riverdale in 30 years.

The Deseret News reports (https://bit.ly/2hsIRzt ) that 21-year-old Luciano Silva has been sentenced to 15 years to life in prison in the death of 25-year-old Horacio Mendez Sanchez of Logan.

Silva was also given an additional year in prison for a weapons violation as well as three more prison terms of one to 15 years that run concurrent to each other but consecutive to the murder charge. Those sentences are for obstruction of justice and possession of a dangerous weapon by a restricted person.

Police say Silva shot Sanchez in 2015, threw the gun in a nearby river and hid the clothes he had been wearing at the time.
