NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - A lawsuit alleging the rape of a 3-year-old boy in a church Sunday School class has been resolved.
The Tennessean reports (https://tnne.ws/2hveici ) Friendship Baptist Church attorney Milton Mayer said “the parties have resolved their differences in both cases.”
A lawsuit filed in December 2015 accused a teenager who was working in a Sunday School class of raping a 3-year-old boy in August 2014. The lawsuit says the teenager pleaded guilty to criminal charges, but records of the case are not available because he is a juvenile.
Church officials say in court documents they alerted law enforcement immediately after the initial allegation. But the church waited nearly a year before it informed other families. Church officials said in court documents that authorities asked them not to discuss a pending investigation.
