EVERETT, Wash. (AP) - Authorities say a 19-year-old woman was killed by gunfire at her apartment in Everett.

The Daily Herald reports (https://goo.gl/tju7OV ) a 22-year-old man who lived with her has been booked into jail for investigation of second-degree domestic-violence manslaughter.

Police say the man told them he accidentally shot the woman, who he said was his girlfriend, Thursday night while playing with a gun he found.

Police allege he caused the death due to criminal negligence. It will be up to prosecutors to decide whether to file charges.

A judge set bail at $100,000, citing the nature of the death and concerns about the man’s mental health.

The man’s public defender says there was no intent to harm anyone.
