MARIETTA, Ga. (AP) - In a story Dec. 18 about a man accused of killing his mother and another man in metro Atlanta, The Associated Press erroneously reported that 31-year old Justin Hess is accused of fatally shooting a man at a storage facility. Police say Hess is accused of stabbing the man to death, not shooting him.
A corrected version of the story is below:
Man accused of killing mother, man arrested after standoff
Police say man accused of fatally shooting his 61-year-old mother and stabbing another man to death was arrested after a brief standoff with police in suburban Atlanta
MARIETTA, Ga. (AP) - Police say a man accused of fatally shooting his 61-year-old mother and stabbing another man was arrested after a brief standoff with police in suburban Atlanta.
Cobb County police spokesman Sgt. Dana Pierce tells local news media that 31-year-old Justin Hess was arrested Sunday. His mother was found shot to death Saturday night upstairs of Hess’ townhome where she also lived.
Sandy Springs police say they were seeking a murder warrant for Hess in connection with the stabbing death of 53-year-old William Haynes, who was found dead at the Extra Space Storage facility in that city.
Pierce says Hess walked out of his basement apartment after a brief standoff with police.
Charges have not been released.
