PORTSMOUTH, N.H. (AP) - A Newmarket man is scheduled to be sentenced this week after admitting to distributing drugs that resulted in the death of a woman two years ago.
The Portsmouth Herald reports (https://bit.ly/2hhNdq9 ) Benjamin Rogers is set to be sentenced in federal court on Tuesday. He pleaded guilty in June to “knowingly and intentionally” distributing the fentanyl that caused the death of Cassie Clermont.
Prosecutors say Rogers gave the drugs to Clermont in October 2014 in the parking lot of a restaurant where she worked. She was found dead the next day in her Portsmouth apartment, with fentanyl and drug paraphernalia near her body.
The New Hampshire Medical Examiner found the 30-year-old Clermont died of acute fentanyl intoxication.
The plea agreement says Rogers faces 20 years to life behind bars.
