MARTINSBURG, W.Va. (AP) - A grand jury will decide whether to indict a Berkley County sheriff’s deputy and school resource officer accused of sending inappropriate messages and photos to a student.

The Journal reports (https://bit.ly/2huBCEt ) a magistrate determined Wednesday there was enough probable cause against 43-year-old Thomas Wade Carroll to send his case to the grand jury.

Carroll is charged with displaying obscene material to a minor and attempting to seduce a minor with display of obscene material.

A Musselman High School student testified that he received explicit photos Dec. 7 on the social media app “Grindr” from an unknown account that investigators have linked to Carroll. Carroll is also accused of trying to meet up with the student.

Carroll says he has used Grindr before but he would never send photos to students.
