POWDER SPRINGS, Ga. (AP) - An Atlanta police officer has been arrested for driving under the influence after police say he was found slumped over the wheel of a vehicle and passed out.

Media outlets report the incident occurred early Sunday in Powder Springs.

According to a Cobb County police report, an officer arrived at the scene to help another officer who found a vehicle on a curb. Police then found 31-year-old Theodore Travis slumped over the wheel, passed out.

Police arrested Travis and charged him with DUI. In the report, Travis is identified as an officer with the Atlanta Police Department.

Travis told WSB-TV (https://2wsb.tv/2h8bVIH) that he made a “poor choice.” It’s unclear if he has an attorney.

An Atlanta police spokesman says an internal investigation is underway and that Travis is on paid administrative leave.
