PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Rhode Island House Republicans will be enjoying upgraded offices for the new year.

House Minority Leader Patricia Morgan pushed to redesign the GOP’s three-room suite at the Statehouse.

Morgan told the Providence Journal on Friday that the office hadn’t been renovated in a long time and with more than a dozen people using it, it had become a chaotic environment.

Morgan said before the remodeling, the minority leader had an office and desk, but the rest of the 11-member caucus shared a large table in one room.

The new design will have areas for each representative to keep their papers.

A spokesman for House Speaker Nicholas Mattiello said the project is expected to cost less than $50,000. The expense will be split between the General Assembly and executive branch budgets.
