WINSTON, Ore. (AP) - One of the biggest Christmas presents to the Douglas County community this holiday season is Kayode, a 4,000-pound white rhinoceros.
The News Review reports (https://bit.ly/2h9FRUY ) that the rhino was sent to Wildlife Safari from the San Diego Zoo Safari Park.
Wildlife Safari General Curator Dan Brands says Kayode is still in their Rhino Boma, or barn, but people can drive by and see him in the pen.
Kayode will be in quarantine until after the holidays.
Once he gets the OK, he’ll roam with the rest of the animals in the park that’s home to about 500 animals.
Kayode’s medical tests have come back normal and he is in excellent health, allowing him to roam soon.
Brands says Kayode is a significant addition to the park.
