COLUMBUS, Ga. (AP) - Authorities say a 67-year-old Columbus man has died, two weeks after being rescued from his submerged car after it plunged into a creek in Columbus.
The Columbus Ledger-Enquirer reports (https://bit.ly/2hk8oXF ) that Ralph Valdespino died at Monday Midtown Medical Center in Columbus from injuries he suffered in the Dec. 13 crash. Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan said the cause of death was blunt-force trauma.
The newspaper reports that Muscogee County sheriff’s Cpl. David Lang said he jumped into the water and used a hammer that someone else brought to the scene to break the SUV’s rear passenger window, opened the door and pulled Valdespino out of the water by his shirt and shoulder.
