NEWARK, Del. (AP) - New Castle County Police have arrested a man they say robbed a person at gunpoint in Newark.
The department said in a news release that officers received a report of shots fired early Sunday. Police say a person was robbed at gunpoint, and during the robbery, there was a struggle over the weapon.
Police say the handgun discharged and hit a home, but no one was hurt. Authorities say the suspect dropped the gun and ran away.
Investigators say an officer and his police dog tracked the suspect to an open field, where he was found and arrested.
Eighteen-year-old Savon Roy was charged with robbery, eight counts of reckless endangering, and weapons offenses.
