PORT BYRON, N.Y. (AP) - Cayuga County sheriff’s deputies are investigating after several tools and other equipment were stolen from a work site just west of Syracuse over the weekend.

Authorities say someone forced their way into a locked trailer at a construction site in the village of Port Byron sometime between 4 p.m. Friday and noon Monday, when workers reported the items as missing.

The equipment stolen includes construction tools and a generator. The gear was being used primarily for concrete construction in the development of a new Dollar General Store in the area.

Deputies didn’t disclose how much the stolen equipment was worth. It’s unclear if any suspects have been identified in the theft.
