TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - A Pima County judge has lowered the bond for a woman accused of kicking a sheriff’s sergeant in the eye, forcing doctors to remove it.
The Arizona Daily Star reports (https://bit.ly/2iqDZcc ) that Pima County Superior Court Judge Michael Butler on Tuesday called the initial $300,000 bond of 28-year-old Yesennia Gonzalez excessive and lowered the amount to $25,000.
Gonzalez is accused of kicking Sgt. Mark Bustamante in his left eye on Dec. 10 after she was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving.
Bustamante underwent surgery for his injury, but doctors were not able to save his eye.
Gonzalez has pleaded not guilty to aggravated assault that caused serious physical injury, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon/dangerous instrument, aggravated assault on a peace officer and resisting arrest.
