WOODSTOCK, Ga. (AP) - Police in north Georgia say a man accused of fatally shooting his wife has been arrested.

Woodstock police spokeswoman Brittany Duncan tells local media Wednesday that 43-year-old Darrel L. Eaker II was arrested in the death of Audra Eaker. Duncan says the shooting occurred Tuesday night when the man shot his 43-year-old wife in her car as she drove westbound on Highway 92.

Duncan says the couple was married but separated.

The highway was closed in both directions until about 11:30 p.m., when the northbound side was opened.

The husband is being held without bond at the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center. He is charged with malice murder and aggravated assault.
