MERRICK, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say the manager of a hair salon on Long Island stole more than $500,000 from his employer over a four-year period.

Newsday reports (https://nwsdy.li/2hvHGim ) 34-year-old William Wittrock was arrested Wednesday by Nassau County police and charged with second-degree larceny. The South Huntington man is expected to be arraigned on Thursday.

Police say Wittrock issued checks payable to cash and then would deposit the money into personal bank accounts while he was working as the manager and clerk of Salon Tom in Merrick.

Bank records show Wittrock either cashed or deposited more than $500,000 of the salon’s money between August 2012 and August 2016.

It couldn’t be determined if Wittrock had a lawyer before his arraignment.
