A survey by online movie-ticket service Fandango finds that “Star Wars: Episode VIII” is movie fans’ “most anticipated” movie of 2017. The news comes as Forbes reported Thursday that “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” has earned nearly $654 million from audiences worldwide.

Comic-book franchises from both Marvel and DC Comics dominate the runners-up, while on opposite ends of the family-friendly spectrum a kinky S&M flick, “Fifty Shades Darker,” (#8) and another “Minions” movie  (#10) also made the top-10 cut, Variety reported Thursday.

“The new year promises a lot of excitement at the multiplex with a much-heralded return of beloved characters and stories highlighting the year’s top three most anticipated movies, ‘Episode VIII,’ ‘Guardians 2,’ and the live-action ‘Beauty and the Beast,’ ” said Fandango Managing Editor Erik Davis, Variety reported.

With the exception of superhero origin stories “Logan” and “Wonder Woman,” the list is comprised of either sequels or reboots of earlier films.

Fandango also found “Beauty and the Beast” star Emma Watson and “Guardians” leading man Chris Pratt to be movie fans’ most anticipated actress and actor, respectively.
