WELCH, W.Va. (AP) - A man suspected of a deadly Christmas Eve shooting has been returned to McDowell County and arraigned on a murder charge before a county magistrate and jailed.

The Bluefield Daily Telegraph reportshttps://bit.ly/2hwkWyM) that 55-year-old Robert Louis Carruthers Jr., of Princeton, is accused of killing 29-year-old Benny Wilson shortly before 8 p.m. on Dec. 24.

West Virginia state troopers went to the jail in Tazewell County, Va., on Wednesday to get him.



Carruthers was arrested there shortly after the shooting.

According to police, Wilson died from multiple gunshot wounds following a family-related dispute in the Bishop area.

Carruthers has requested a court-appointed lawyer.
