WASHINGTON (AP) - District of Columbia police say a man was fatally stabbed in southeast Washington.

Brown’s slaying is the 135nd homicide of the year in the nation’s capital. Last year, there were 162 homicides. Still, this year has been the second-deadliest of the decade.

Police say a bystander found 25-year-old Antoinios Butler around midnight Friday, lying face down in a street near a shopping center. Police say he was gasping for air and bleeding from the chest when officers arrived. He died at a hospital.

Police have not identified a suspect or established a motive.
