SKOWHEGAN, Maine (AP) - Authorities say a Maine woman and her 4-year-old son were hospitalized in serious condition after a police officer pulled them from a burning mobile home.

Skowhegan police Officer Timothy Williams entered the home Friday night and found 24-year-old Andrea Curtis and her son, Tyler Curtis-Benson, in the living room.

Curtis was taken to Maine Medical Center and her son was transported to Shriners Hospital for Children in Boston.

In another fire in Skowhegan, authorities say 53-year-old Michelle Sweet was burned and suffered smoke inhalation in her mobile home while smoking on oxygen. She was able to escape and was taken to a hospital Sunday.
