JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - The Jackson Police Department is searching for an 18-year-old man who is wanted on a capital murder charge.

Jackson Police Department Commander Tyree Jones tells local media that Martin “Red” Woodard is wanted for the shooting death of 29-year-old Timothy Thomas.

Jones says Woodard shot Thomas on Friday while trying to rob him. Thomas died Monday.



Police describe Woodard as a black male standing 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighing 150 pounds and with multiple tattoos.

It’s unclear if Woodard has an attorney.
