POWELL, Wyo. (AP) - The city of Powell hopes to land a drone manufacturing company with help from a state grant.
Powell officials plan to apply for a $435,000 grant from the Wyoming Business Council. The money would be used to build a 3,000-square-foot facility at the Powell Municipal Airport.
A company called GT Aeronautics would lease the facility from the city.
Company President Tom Rullman tells the Powell Tribune (https://bit.ly/2gZt7kJ) the airport would be among the first to serve both piloted airplanes and unmanned aerial vehicles.
Rullman says the Powell airport is a good place for drones because few houses are nearby.
