EVERETT, Wash. (AP) - The trial of a man accused in a shooting that killed two people and injured a third has opened in Everett.
The Daily Herald reports (https://goo.gl/zTFn81 that 39-year-old Tye Fleischer is charged with two counts of aggravated murder and attempted first-degree murder. If convicted, he faces a mandatory life sentence without the possibility of release.
In opening statements Tuesday, Snohomish County prosecutors allege that Fleischer set out that night to kill a known drug dealer and a tenant at the clean-and-sober house in Everett. They say he fired 10 rounds at three people.
Defense attorney Karen Halverson told jurors that Fleischer shot in self-defense and never intended to harm anyone.
Killed in the Feb. 13, 2015, shooting were Kevin Odneal and Irene Halverson. A second woman was wounded but survived.
The house has been the scene of two other deadly shootings since 2008.
