There are some professional accomplishments movie stars would love to receive two years in a row. But Johnny Depp may find this one an exception to the rule.

As 2016 closes, the “Pirates of the Caribbean” alumnus once again tops Forbes magazine’s “most overpaid actor” list.

“His last three movies returned just $2.80 at the box office for every $1 he was paid on them,” explained Forbes in a story Wednesday, noting that while there’s no evidence ex-wife Amber Heard’s allegations of abuse hurt his earning potential, his box-office stinkers “Mortdecai” (2015) and “Transcendence” (2014) cemented his place atop the list.

The Hollywood power couple arrived at a $7 million divorce settlement in August, the first installment of which Mr. Depp donated to the ACLU and Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles.

Explaining its criteria, Forbes said it looked at “the last three films each actor starred in before June 2016, save animated films, movies where the actor appeared in an insignificant role, or movies that were released on fewer than 2,000 screens.”

“We did not examine folks unless they had starred in a new eligible movie since last year’s scoring period,” the magazine said.

The entire list, which includes other other marquee talent such as Bradley Cooper and Julia Roberts, can be viewed here.
