MINOT, N.D. (AP) - The first of two new parking ramps in Minot’s downtown has opened, after years of what officials described as “challenging” construction.
Work began on the ramps in October 2013. Construction stopped a year later amid concerns that subcontractors weren’t being paid. It became apparent the project couldn’t be completed for the original bid price of $10.5 million.
The Minot Daily News reports (https://bit.ly/1ox9MKz ) that the project cost is now estimated at $19 million.
The first ramp with 225 parking spaces fully opened Thursday. The second ramp, with the same number of spaces, is scheduled to open in the spring.
