CEDAR FALLS, Iowa (AP) - A Cedar Falls teacher has been accused of stealing student medications from a locked cabinet at a junior high school.
Thirty-three-year-old Douglas Wilkinson was arrested Feb. 9 and is charged with theft, unlawful possession of prescription drugs and filing a false police report. His attorney didn’t immediately return a call Monday from The Associated Press.
State authorities say he’s been teaching English at Cedar Falls High School and coaching at Holmes Junior High School.
The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier reports (https://bit.ly/1UhNgBy ) that Wilkinson told investigators he’s addicted to prescription medications. Court records say a security camera caught Wilkinson entering a locked nurse’s office on Feb. 5 and stealing the drugs from the medicine cabinet.
