SCRANTON, Pa. (AP) - Police say a man has been arrested for trying to steal a fallen northeastern Pennsylvania police officer’s bike.

The Times-Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/1WDZNOg ) that the bicycle belonging to Scranton officer John Wilding had been on display at police headquarters.

Police say a man grabbed the bike on Saturday and took off. He was caught a short distance away from headquarters.

Online court documents show 26-year-old Declan Miles, who is homeless, is charged with theft and jailed in Lackawanna County Prison. No lawyer information is listed.

Wilding died in July after he jumped a fence and fell 15 feet while chasing three 17-year-old armed robbery suspects.

The three teenagers have been charged as adults with second-degree murder.
