HAMPTON, Va. (AP) - Dionte Adams’ 3-point play with four seconds remaining gave Hampton a 68-67 victory over Howard on Saturday night and clinched a share of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference title.

James Daniel III, who finished with 35 points, scored Howard’s last 11, giving the Bison (12-18, 6-9) a 67-65 lead on a jumper with 16 seconds remaining. Adams scored on a layup, was fouled and made the free throw before Daniel missed on a half-court heave. Daniel, who was 12 of 25 with six 3-pointers, has hit 30 points nine times this season.

Howard led 36-23 at halftime behind 19 points from Daniel. Hampton rallied for a seven-point lead before Daniel’s spree in the final three minutes.

Hampton (17-9, 12-2), with two games remaining, is in front of South Carolina State (11-4) and Norfolk State (10-4).
