RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) - The leader of a South Dakota congregation of Warren Jeffs’ polygamous sect has a detention hearing after his arrest in a sweep accusing leaders of food-stamp fraud and money laundering.

Seth Jeffs’ appearance in federal court in Rapid City is scheduled for Monday.

Seth Jeffs was arrested in Custer County last week as part of the widespread federal sweep. Authorities say Jeffs leads a compound of Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints members in rural Custer County.

Prosecutors are asking for Jeffs to be kept behind bars pending a trial because authorities say he is a flight risk.
