FREEPORT, Maine (AP) - A 5-year-old Maine girl’s friendship with a duck has garnered national attention.

WGME-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1QmHclm ) that a story about Morse Street Elementary School student Kylie Brown and her pet duck, Snowflake, has been viewed about 10 million times.

Snowflake grew fond of Brown after her parents brought the duck home last summer.

The Pet Education Project in Louisiana saw the story and has since honored Kylie at a school assembly for being a responsible pet owner. Kylie feeds, naps with and plays with Snowflake.

Her father Mike Brown says kids need to know how to take care of pets - no matter what kind of pet they have.
