ROCKPORT, Maine (AP) - Maine’s annual forum for fishing industry professionals will take place in Rockport and focus on the health of the industry.

The Maine Fishermen’s Forum is scheduled for Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the Samoset Resort. Thousands of people from the industry, government, science and advocacy organizations are expected to attend the event.

Last year state officials announced that fishermen hauled in a catch worth a state record $585 million in 2014. Officials are expected to make an announcement about 2015 values on Friday. The exploding value of Maine lobsters accounted for more than $450 million of that total.
